Change of relay point for the 60km relay / ITRA point certification for the 40km pair

TOC

The relay point was changed (60K Pair Relay).

Description of changes

The relay point for the new 60km Pair Relay category that was added for the Daisetsuzan Trail Journey has been changed. As a result, the original plan of 25km + 35km was changed to 35km + 25km.

before

after

The original guide stated that the relay would take place at the end of the Ninosawa Forest Road (WS2), but the relay point will actually be at the Ninosawa Forest Road junction (A2), which is 10km further down the forest road. The reason for this decision was the reduction in transport time for the second runner.

This is the final decision, so we would like everyone who has registered to consider participating on this basis.

The appeal points of the 60K pair relay

  • You can enjoy the mountains even if you can’t run long distances!
You don’t have to give up just because you can’t run 40km in the mountains. The last 25km is the best part of this race, so the whole course is like a reward. You’ll be able to attack Hira-yama completely fresh, so you’ll probably be the envy of the 40km and 60km runners!
  • You get a lot for your money!
This time, because 60K pair race is also a trial, the registration fee per person is much cheaper than the 40km event. However, the course you can run is as described above, so you will probably be very satisfied.

Note: 60K pair relay is for the first 20 couples only.

We especially recommend this category for those who want to experience a mountain trail over a short distance. If you have a partner you’d like to pair up with, please consider registering for the 60K Pair Relay.
Registration is limited to the first 20 pairs, so please register as soon as possible if you are considering participating. Also, please note that the deadline for the early bird discount is March 31st.

What kind of race is 40K Pairs?

Let’s take a look at the 40K Pair Race!

  1. We will run the 40km together from start to finish, with each other as our running partners.
(The 60K Pair Relay, on the other hand, is an event in which the course is divided into two halves, with the first and second halves split between two runners.)
Let’s support each other and head towards the finish line!
  2. Each person must carry the mandatory items, but other items and equipment can be shared within the pair.
If you are physically fit, you may carry all but the mandatory items to make it easier for your partner. However, we will check the mandatory items for each individual.
  3. You must pass through the check point and finish at the same time.
There is no rule that you must always run together, but you cannot pass through a checkpoint unless you and your partner check in at the same time. There is no prohibition on running separately and only checking in together at checkpoints, but this is not the concept of the category. If you wish to do so, we recommend that you enter a solo race.
  4. There are no restrictions on gender for pairs.
The concept of the Pair Category is that “a journey that would be difficult for one person is not so hard for two people who get along well”. There are no restrictions on the gender of the pair.

The above is all that has been decided at this time. It is possible that more detailed rules will be added in the future, but there will be no special physical restrictions, such as tying the pairs together with strings.
